Before we go any further, I just want to share that this week I was giving myself a high-five for hosting a super successful LinkedIn Live event. If you follow my content you know I do weekly shows and sometimes multiple so why was this one such a big deal?
It was a big deal for me as my guest for the episode was Michelle Berg – LinkedIn Pages Product Marketing team. Having the LinkedIn team come on the show was an acknowledgement of the work I’ve been doing in the space to educate and inspire others to take action with their LinkedIn Company Pages. Having 300 attendees was even more amazing.

LinkedIn Doesn't Listen To What Businesses Need From Pages. FALSE
Actually, that is exactly what the Product Marketing team do. They listen to user feedback, watch for trends and are always on the lookout for ways to improve.

LinkedIn Company Pages Are Only For Large Enterprises and Not Small Businesses. FALSE
There are more than 57M Pages on LinkedIn (Source: LinkedIn) and you might be surprised to know that small business Pages are the majority and are the area of growth. LinkedIn recognises that the cold start-up process is difficult for small business and are working on ways to help with this (Hint: 250 invite credits for Page Admins will help a lot!)
Linkedin Restrict Organic Reach So that Pages will Pay for Ads. FALSE
This is probably one of the most common myths we were able to bust. Yes, LinkedIn is aware of the priority of brands wanting to have visibility and this is falling short. This however is not a deliberate plot to encourage ad spending. Actually, it’s quite the opposite.

Why Does It Always Feel Like I Get Company Page Features Last?
Maybe this isn’t a myth but it is certainly a frequent topic of conversation as F.O.M.O kicks in. Long story short – there is a process that LinkedIn follow to ensure that when the feature is fully rolled out it works as intended for all. With no unintended consequences.
LinkedIn Company Page new features go through Alpha Testing, Beta Testing, and Staggered rollout. It really is just luck of the draw who gets what first.

Of course, I would have loved to share the inside scoop but I didn’t want Michelle to end up in LinkedIn jail (which is not real by the way). All you need to know is that a growing team at LinkedIn eats, breathes and dreams of ways to help Pages of all sizes get involved in more conversations for their brands.
The focus is 100% on making conversations for brands as their research all indicate members on the platform want to engage with brands they know, like and trust.

The future is bright for LinkedIn Company Pages. There is only going to be an upside for those that invest in building their community. I certainly learnt a lot about the direction of Pages and how the team is working to improve the overall experience.
